I have worked in IT now for over 30 years. I started in a small computer store and worked my way up to working in large corporations. I have worked as a systems administrator and in identity security positions. I spent 4 years teaching computer networking for a post-secondary school.
Working in IT for so long means I installed the very first distro of Linux (Slackware) when it came out. I have seen the movement from Netware and mainframes and old school Unix through the infancy of virtual computers with VM to the modern world of Windows servers and AD, Linux servers, and now cloud computing and systems automation.
This is an exciting time to be involved in IT and computer systems career. We have so many opportunities now. Access to systems is cheaper and easier than ever before with the cloud. And sites like Learnfly make learning so easy.
